Louise is a makeup and special makeup effects artist based in the city of Toronto. She has been active in the film, television and commercial world for over fifteen years. Louise is an expert at quick character makeup, prosthetics, casualty and gore, and regular HD makeup.
In 2014 Louise was nominated for her makeup designs for the feature film
'The Colony", with Lawrence Fishburne, Kevin Zegers and Bill Paxton. She was also previously nominated for an Emmy for work on the HBO film Truman.
Louise Mackintosh is the owner and manager of Caligari Inc.The company was founded in 1996 and rose to be one of the best known special makeup effects studios in Toronto and across Canada.
In addition to the films listed on IMDB, the company has also made special custom items such as a silicone fat belly for Bruce Willis in "16 Blocks", and one for Woody Harrelson in "The Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio". For the Viking/Alien feature "Outlander" Louise not only did the special makeup effects, her company made fifty body replicas, animal replicas, a huge creature head, and all the prosthetics for the cast: James Caviezel, James Rogers, and Ron Perlman, among others. Louise and Caligari Studio provided some appropriately meaty makeup effects and special props for Director Rob Schmidt's "Bad Meat".
You have also seen her work in countless commercials. Like the Avocados from Mexico ad for the Super Bowl, and Skittles man touched by a rainbow, Rogers, Wealth Simple. And also the extraordinary films played during the RUSH tours of 2013 and 2014 (see the photos in the Rush gallery here)
Louise has also co-produced a few films: Nostrum (Pschotica in the US, Killing Zelda Sparks, and her own short film that she also wrote: Deadfall which has been seen in several festivals.
